We first learned of Father Leo Patalinghug and Grace Before Meals in 2009 while watching an episode of “Throwdown! with Bobby Flay” on Food Network. In the episode, Father Leo beat Chef Bobby Flay at a fajitas competition – which was extra surprising given Chef Flay’s expertise in Southwestern cuisine. Since then, Father Leo has published three books (Grace Before Meals, Epic Food Fight, and Spicing Up Married Life) and made numerous radio and television appearance such as hosting “Savoring Our Faith” on EWTN. As if being a Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, celebrity chef, and internationally known speaker isn’t enough, Father Leo is also accomplished in martial arts and break dancing. From this unique background, Father Leo’s is able to engage a wide audience for his Grace Before Meals effort to strengthen families and communities around the dinner table.

Father Leo’s #8isEnoughQuestions interview is part of our Farm to Family Food Chain series with farmers, chefs, retailers, and more. Previous Farm to Family Food Chain interviews have included Chef Fabio VivianiChef Marc Murphy and Jesse Straight from Whiffletree Farm. For this special audio #8isEnoughQuestions interview, each question was written and asked by one of our Full Van Fun family members and answered directly by Father Leo. Sample questions for Father Leo included:

  • What is the most important meal to cook?
  • What is your idea of a family friendly meal that is easy for kids to make?
  • Father Leo, I know that you like to break dance, but do you like to waltz with potatoes?
