With songs that make you sing, “It’s a Pinata Attack! . . . Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack!” Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band create fun melodic innocence.  Led by Lucky Diaz and his wife Alisha Gaddis, the band’s music is a perfect blend of Spanish and English lyrics, inspired rhythms, smooth voices, gifted musicians, and strong production.  Adelante, Lucky Diaz’s latest album, was recently nominated for a Latin Grammy and features infectious songs like the aforementioned Pinata Attack, The Taco Song, and Speedy Gonzalez.  In October 2015, Lucky Diaz released a 100% AWESOME new single, “The Best Day” on iTunes (check out our Full Van Fun reviews to see how we actually calculate awesomeness). Beyond music, Lucky Diaz and Alisha Gaddis draw upon their comedic and dramatic skills to collaborate on an Emmy award winning live-action children’s program, Lishy Lou and Lucky Too.

For this #8isEnoughQuestions interview, each of the following questions was written by one of our Full Van Fun family members and answered directly by Lucky Diaz and/or Alisha Gaddis. Enjoy!

1. How do you blend your backgrounds in music and comedy to create your songs?
Alisha: Lucky and I have the ideal mish mash of music and comedy.  Lucky comes from a world of music, and I come from theatre and comedy.  We put our loves together and created a musical experience of fun!  We like to think of ourselves as modern day gypsies- traversing the planet bringing joy and dance parties to all!

2.What is your favorite taco?

Lucky: Ohhhh….Yum TACOS!!  Carnitas are my favorite of all time.  But carne asada , pollo, all of it!  I will eat it all!  TACOS FOR EVERYONE!!

3. ¿Qué es tu sombrero favorita, y dondé compras los sombreros?

Mi tipo favorito de sombrero es el que usted usa en su cabeza. Compramos todos nuestros sombreros en las modistas mágicos. Sombreros y gorros y sombreros y sombreros!

4.What do you like more, performing in concerts, or doing a TV show?

All of it rolled into one giant burrito!

5. Between Mickey Mouse, Jerry Mouse, and Speedy Gonzalez, who is your favorite animated mouse?

Oohhhh…that is a hard one.  I wouldn’t want them to feel deprived of our love.  And by the way, Minnie is pretty fabulous too!

6. What color house do you live in?

Our treehouse is high above the sky with a wood floor and sky walls, with an canopy of leaves and jacarandas.  It smells like happiness and cookies.  All our friends are always just a few blocks away and come over for Lucky’s salsa or pancakes!  Come over anytime.

7. You have been nominated for and won a lot of different awards including a Latin Grammy and multiple Emmys, so if you could only win one more award, what would it be?

We want to win the award for ALL THINGS AWESOME ALWAYS. Where do we apply for that?!
